Overview

Spot from the film “El Mayor” by Rigoberto Lopez Pego, inspired by the life of Major General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz (1841-1873). The career of Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, one of the great political and military leaders of the Cuban independence war. He was a strategist of exemplary conduct in following principles, and the man in love whose life portrayed his time. Two passions shaped his character, the fight for freedom and an unbreakable love. In the midst of relaxed controversies, he was not seduced by the renunciation of positions and commands, nor by the woman he loved with dedication that the century would envy. He was defined by loyalty to the revolution and his comrades in arms. He faced contradictions and successes, and a tenacious struggle with himself, the most intense of his controversies. By narrating the epic of El Mayor, the film delves into the adventures that forged the Cuban nation.
