ROLL UP, ROLL UP! JOIN THE CIRCUS with international musical theatre star MATT YOUNG. CIRCUS CARNIVAL CABARET is a musical comedy one-man cabaret show tells the story of family circus which began in the Outback town of Blackall, where Matt currently lives. Here the story of Mary Ellen Atkins, the local girl who ran away from her small town to join the circus, and Mat Young, the Broadway perfomer who ran away from the city, to live in the Outback! Matt the Ringmaster will entertain you with songs from Broadway and beyond about the circus, whilst recounting his own journey from Broadway to Blackall.

Matt Young is a well-known stage and screen actor, best known for playing James Cook in Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery for Australia’s ABC. Before moving to Australia in 2001, he toured the US, Canada and Europe in Broadway musicals including A Chorus Line, West Side Story, and On the Town. In Australia, he was in the original cast of Mel Brook’s The Producers,the 2012 revival cast of Annie, and Queensland productions of Yank!, Mamma Mia, and the Matilda Award nominated Goodbye Miss Monroe. Film and tv credits include Hallmark’s A Summer To Remember and Pearl in Paradise, Gayby Baby, Wrecked and the upcoming feature films Heart of the Man and Zombie Plane. Matt is the founder of Tukuna Acting Club in Fiji and Outback Queensland.

DIRECTOR: Sharleen Ali

A former professional dancer, gained national recognition by winning the inaugural Fiji’s Dancing Superstar competition in 2014 with her dance partner. She transitioned into entrepreneurship, establishing her business initially as the event production arm of the successful Exquisite Decorations and Hire. Her clientele included prominent names such as Novotel, Holiday Inn, and Alliance Française de Suva. In 2020, Sharleen undertook the management of operations and logistics for Dance Fest Fiji’s inaugural edition, a nationwide event featuring dance companies, which was broadcasted on FBC. With over a decade of event management experience, Sharleen is dedicated to creating safe spaces and beneficial platforms for all Fijian artists and communicators, reflecting her passion for the Creative Arts.  Official Website
