Black-browed Albatross

The black-browed albatross is a medium-sized seabird commonly found in the southern oceans. Recognizable by its dark eyestripe, white head, and orange-yellow bill, this species has a wingspan of 200 to 240 cm and typically weighs between 2.9 to 4.7 kg. With a natural lifespan of over 70 years, it boasts a dark grey saddle and upperwings contrasting with its white rump and underparts.

Wandering Albatross
Known as “the bird which made the breeze to blow,” the Wandering albatross (Diomedea exulans) boasts the longest wingspan of any bird species. Living up to its name, it embarks on fishing expeditions lasting 10-20 days, covering remarkable distances of up to 10,000 km with minimal energy expenditure, akin to when it’s perched on its nest. Despite its sizable frame, this bird is marvelously adapted for soaring flight, effortlessly gliding for extended periods before needing to flap its wings to regain altitude.
The Wandering albatross is exclusively ocean-bound, only returning to land for breeding purposes, residing far from any islands. During its time at sea, it rests on the water’s surface and tirelessly traverses the skies, scouring for plentiful food sources.
