Air Transport

If you are short on time and want to see the best of the islands that Fiji has to offer, you have a choice of two domestic fixed-winged airliners (Fiji Link and Northern Air), both have weekly set timetables with regular flights (the downside is they get booked out very quickly, so some preplanning may be necessary). Fiji Link and Northern Air have daily flights to most of the major Fiji islands, flying to the Mamanucas, the Yasawas, Savusavu, and Labasa every day. Many other smaller islands also have airstrips, that are also serviced by privately owned fixed-wing airplanes, seaplanes, and helicopters offering relaxing transfers and scenic tours across the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands.
Land Based Transport

On the larger islands, public transport is extensive with many options available, (regular schedules), with regular open-air buses, and mini-van services, offering an ideal opportune way to get around and mingle with the locals. Cheap and inexpensive, you can find bus stations in most downtown areas. Taxis are also a good way to travel around Viti Levu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu, and Ovalau and see the sights. Sharing taxis and cabs with other people is an effective way of keeping the price down.

The range and scope of day cruises include dolphin-watching tours, game fishing, snorkeling trips, and many more. For those with plenty of time on their hands getting around Fiji by boat is fantastic, with ferry services linking Viti Levu to all the other island groups. These inter-island ferries carry passengers, cargo, and vehicles with onboard food and beverages available. The only downside to traveling by inter-island ferry is that they are not very punctual and most boats do not leave or arrive at the appointed hour. This can be especially difficult if you are hard-pressed for time. So during your adventures please bear this in mind.
