Malolo Island Resort Opens Brand New Spa

Malolo Spa at Malolo Island Resort, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji

Fiji’s iconic and multi award-winning family island resort has added another string to its bow – opening its new FJD$1.5M day spa on Thursday, 18th April 2024. Located at the edge of the resort’s luscious patch of tropical rainforest, the new “Leilani’s Spa” adds another level of elevated experiences to Malolo’s already comprehensive guest offerings.

Malolo Island Resort is proudly 100% Fijian family owned – part of the Rosie Travel Group, so it was only fitting that matriarch Rosie Whitton herself was there to do the opening honours, along with resort owners Tony & Brigid Whitton, and Rosie’s daughter and namesake, Rose Whitton Cavu.

With a true family connection, “Leilani’s Spa” is named after Rosie’s grand-daughter whose name means “heavenly flower”. In tune with this theme, the spa treatments have been carefully designed to embrace the therapeutic benefits of the locally-made Pure Fiji spa products natural ingredients.

Truly heavenly experience

The aim is to provide resort guests with a truly heavenly experience.

Guests arrive to the stunning reception lounge. Here they will choose their favourite Pure Fiji aromatic oil for their treatment – from scents such as: Lime Blossom, Milk & Honey, Passion Flower or the ubiquitous Coconut, just to name a few.

After which, they will be escorted to one of three, fully air-conditioned treatment rooms – which can be set for singles or couples, and all with floor-to-ceiling views out to the picturesque rainforest. Each room has its own private bathroom where guests change into a robe and then proceed to their secluded verandah for a relaxing foot massage. Each verandah also has a deep-set stone “jungle” bath for a soothing after-treatment soak.

Leilani’s Spa offers everything from traditional Fijian massage, to the latest in stone therapies which originate from the Fijian island of Beqa. Hands and feet are not forgotten with a range of facials and restorative foot massages and scrubs. Couples can choose from four decadent treatments for that special romantic indulgence, or the list of “Ultimate Pamper” treatments will leave guests in a blissful state of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Pure Fiji Products used at Leilani’s Spa

The Spa’s Pure Fiji products utilise many of Fiji’s ancient, indigenous healing plants and seeds that have been used by generations of Fijians for hundreds of years – some of which can be found on Malolo Island.

Seeds like Dilo (also a Hydrsol), is a natural anti-inflammatory, regenerates skin cells and is commonly used on burns; or Moringa – which is nutrient-dense, nourishing and an anti – pollutant. Coconut – the most common of all the seeds, has multiple healing properties for the body – both internally and externally, and moisturises, nourishes and protects the skin. Local Botanicals are also prevalent in the spa products like Papaya Extract, which is used to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and impurities, brighten skin tone and increases skin radiance.

“Building a new spa has been a long-term goal for us. We are delighted to finally be able to accomplish this and bring to our guests an enhanced and special experience to enjoy during their stay. Having recently been awarded Fiji’s best Deluxe Accommodation at our annual tourism awards, our guest expectations are now even higher, and we know that our new spa will deliver a new level of product offering for the resort.” Malolo resort owner and Managing Director, Tony Whitton

Leilani’s Spa is open daily from 11am to 8pm.
