A private island refuge in the South Pacific, Laucala unites dramatic rainforest-laced landscapes and white sandy beaches with unparalleled levels of luxury and privacy. No expense has been spared at the exclusive tropical hideaway, where 25 Fijian-styled villas are set amid coconut plantations, beside deserted beaches, and atop the island’s volcanic mountains, overlooking fertile coral reefs and endless jungle.
Our Residences are private homes inflected with a dream: suspended over lagoons, on hilltops, amidst the rainforest, and beside the rolling waves.
Each Residence has its own elegant lounge, private pool, spacious sundecks and outdoor baths. You will also receive the services of a Tau – Fijian for ‘friend’ – who can assist you with anything you need during your stay, whether that’s making arrangements for activities or bringing plates of island cuisine to your doorstep. Our island wellness centre – COMO Shambhala Retreat – is a celebration of the many fresh, nourishing resources that can be found in Fiji. Outfitted with the same natural materials that embellish the rest of the resort and surrounded by lily pads floating in still ponds, the spa is an enchanting experience of deep relaxation and quietude.
Enjoy immersing yourself in facial and body treatments, making use of COMO Shambhala’s four couples’ treatment suites, a hot stone heater, outdoor bathtub, and beauty salon. In the garden, guests can peruse tropical flowers, herbs, spices and fruit to create their own soaps and lotions in the resort distillery. Our Riviera Open Flybridge can be chartered for deep sea game fishing excursions. Whether you’re a beginner looking for expert-led coaching or an experienced fisher hoping to land one of Fiji’s famous yellowfin tuna, the waters beyond the lagoons offer an abundance of blue marlin, black marlin, wahoo, Pacific sailfish, giant trevally and dolphin fish.
The 18-hole Championship Course is carefully set in the old plantation, surrounded by Laucala’s dramatic mountains. Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, this par-72 course is challenging for experienced players, but with a variety of tee box options, is also inviting to those new to the game. The par-5 12th hole is the signature hole: the green extends on to the beach.
Any number of games is complimentary. Games include access to the driving range and putting green, as well as the use of golf clubs and buggies. For lessons with a golf professional, please let us know in advance of your stay. For experienced divers, embark on your own dive trips within the encircling reef and beyond. Inner reef excursions are possible at mid- and high tides. All our sites are within a 45-minute boat journey and our remoteness means you will very rarely encounter another dive boat.
We also offer PADI-certified dive instruction for all levels, including Bubblemaker (ages eight+), Open Water and Night Dive certifications. The duration of a PADI-certification course depends on whether the guest has completed their dive theory at home (recommended). Generally, a complete beginner can be certified at COMO Laucala Island in four days, with complimentary refresher instruction. Please note that no dives can take place within 24 hours of air travel. We arrange surfing at Magai Eco Surf Resort, located 20 minutes from the resort by boat and home to a first-class left- and right-hand break. We bring a rescue sled and jet ski along too, so you can catch as many waves as you like, with expert surf instruction if required. This is an excellent destination, in the right conditions, to get children up on a body board or surfboard for the first time.
Our fleet of boats allows for a wide variety of activities, from complimentary inner reef sailing — including Hobie Cats, Phantoms, Nacras, Lasers, a Dragon and single-seater Outrigger — to skipper-led excursions beyond the limits of the barrier reef.
