Tropical rainforests with rare native birds and spectacular waterfalls, pristine beaches, and world-class coral reefs await you at Nakia Resort & Dive, Fiji. Intimate and family-owned, Nakia is the only eco-resort on Taveuni Island. Nakia also is the only resort on Taveuni with family-operated diving, snorkeling, and adventure programs. Through Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia, the owners’ daughter, Julie, together with local divemasters, offers the most comprehensive diving program available on the island, serving first–time divers through experienced divers seeking the professional level of Divemaster. Eco-Tourism
Nakia is intimate and private with just four bures (Fijian cottages), accommodating up to 15 guests. Each bure has a veranda and hammock, overlooking the Somosomo Strait and Rainbow Reef. Bures have bathrooms with showers, on-demand hot water, 24-hour 240-volt power, daily maid service, and ample beach and bath towels. They are furnished with elevated ceilings with fans, cool tile floors, comfortable locally–made furnishings, premium mattresses, side tables, and chairs, ample closet space, a refrigerator, locally crafted, decorative mats, fabrics, wood carvings, and fresh tropical flowers.
Nakia Resort & Dive’s Cliffhouse Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner daily, overlooking the pool and Somosomo Strait. The Cliffhouse features tropical fruit drinks, seafood, local beef, lamb, and chicken, and produce from Nakia’s own organic garden. We pick produce and bake bread, cookies, and cakes daily.
Our menu includes Pacific-rim, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Fijian, and Northern California specialties, depending on the availability of fresh fish, meats, and seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Every meal includes vegetarian options. We love to cook, grill, and bake and gladly will make special meals, dishes, or beverages to order – if you want it, we will try our best to make it! For example, if you like tea or coffee early in the morning, ask for a thermos with your preferred beverage for the following morning.Come with us diving and snorkeling – See for yourself why the Cousteau family calls Fiji “the soft coral capital of the world” and why Scuba Diver magazine has repeatedly rated Taveuni dive sites among the top ten on the planet. The tidal current and constant year-round water temperature of the Somosomo Strait create an ideal environment for more than 390 species of corals, marine creatures such as anemones, turtles, eels, and nearly 1500 kinds of fish. Fiji’s world-class reefs were featured in a November 2004 National Geographic article and online video.
