The much-anticipated Bilo Bar Club reunion has begun at Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji. Scheduled to take place twice in a year, the reunions are the perfect time to catch up with old friends and meet friends you never you had whilst enjoying your home away from home in Fiji.
Initially, the Club was an excuse for a social gathering but that changed in 1983 when the eye of Cyclone Oscar ripped through Sigatoka and the surrounding areas devastating them. Realising that most of the staff of the Resort lived in the immediate areas that had been so badly devastated, members of The Club stepped in to help.
From then on, The Bilo Bar had changed forever, and it became not only a club that recognised regular returning guests but one that gave back to the community and helped the disadvantaged.
Bilo Bar Club Imperial Bilo Andrew Neaves said “In May each year we get together to celebrate the anniversary of the club’sformation. Our May reunions are a week-long event, with usually an informal dinner planned once everyone arrives.”
He added that the October reunion is The Club’s major fundraising event of the year when everyone gets together for two weeks.
“Every year the Bilo Bar Club raises thousands of dollars of vital funds via our Calcutta Auction and Melbourne Cup Sweepstakes.”
Mr. Neaves also highlighted that previous fundraising has built kindergartens, hospital ward, funded scholarships, provided infrastructure assistance for Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park and built a Kindey Dialysis Centre which is yet to operate.
Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji General Manager and Bilo Bar Club Grand Bilo Mr. Francis Lee said “The Bilo Bar Club Reunion is not just a reunion; it’s a celebration of the enduring friendships and connections that have been forged at Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji. Guests can expect a delightful array of activities.”
“We are thrilled to welcome our cherished returnee guests back to Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji for the Bilo Bar Club Reunion. This event is a testament to the enduring bonds we’ve formed with our guests over the years. It’s not just a reunion; it’s a celebration of the Shangri-La family.”
