Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation – Community Focus

As the 100% Fijian owned Resort company operating in a pristine and sensitive environment, Ahura Resorts wholly supports the concept of sustainable tourism. The Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation, launched as a registered charitable trust in 2020, implements and manages all the environmental programs across land and sea at both Malolo Island Resort, Likuliku Lagoon Resort, and the private island of Mociu, plus community projects involving our indigenous resource owners in Yaro village, Malolo Island.

Ahura’s current Community projects include:

  • Sponsorship of the Navatalesau Brigid Kindergarten in Yaro Village including the classroom facility, maintenance, teacher’s cottage and teaching resources
  • Water infrastructure in Yaro Village through the provision of water security with a water catchment, management of the catchment and storage tanks
  • Support for power generation in Yaro Village with a monthly diesel donation
  • Continued development through the Yaro Village Infrastructure Fund

 

In addition, Ahura supports an annual village major clean-up through the provision of the resorts’ barge and staff. Organised and led by the Foundation’s Director of Sustainability & Operations – Sia Rasalato, the staff of Malolo and Likuliku resorts along with members of the village community, pulled together over 3 days to achieve an amazing transformation of them village, which in turn will provide for a better quality of living and safe environment for everyone.

We sit down regularly with the village elders to share how our Foundation can help meet their environmental and social needs. Over the last three days our Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation team has been busy working in the Yaro village community with our partners Marine Solutions, providing a valuable service to the village and a boost to the surrounding environment.”

Ahura Resorts is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Bradley Calder as Group General Manager to the 100% Fijian owned and multi award-winning resort management company for Likuliku Lagoon and Malolo Island Resorts.

Owner and Managing Director Tony Whitton said, “We are delighted to welcome Bradley and his wife Agnieszka to Fiji and Ahura Resorts. Bradley comes to us with a wealth of international experience in private islands, luxury and family resorts.  Bradley arrives to Ahura from a five year posting as Group General Manager for the luxury 5-star Hurawalhi Island Resort and Kudadoo Island Resort in the Maldives, and prior to that, he worked four years as Resort Manager at Gili Lankanfushi also in the Maldives. Bradley has also held a number of key roles in the four-star resort family segment including Executive Assistant Manager at Hard Rock Hotel Bali for four years and, three years at the Warwick Fiji Resort & Spa in Fiji.”

Bradley and Agnieszka say, “We are very excited to return to beautiful Fiji after so many years, and to share our experience with the people of Fiji so that they may continue to grow and meet the everevolving expectations of our resort guests. We also feel privileged to be working with the Whitton family and the Ahura team, whose strong community values align so closely with our own.”

A New Zealand native, Bradley has a degree in Hospitality Management, accompanied by a strong foundation in food and beverage, then going on to broaden his skills in human resources, rooms, sales and marketing, finance and resort pre-opening. Bradley will be joined by his wife Agnieszka Calder who has worked with him in the UK, New Zealand, Indonesia and Maldives. Agnieszka also joins Ahura Resorts as Manager, Guest Experience and will oversee the Ahura Resorts Conservation Foundation.
