History of Turtle Airways
Turtle Airways was founded by Richard Evanson in 1979, partly to transport crew and material for the 1980 film, the “Blue Lagoon.” The popular movie, starring Brooke Shields, was filmed on Evanson’s privately owned Turtle Island, an award-winning, five-star resort located in the Yasawa Islands. The short, scenic and convenient seaplane flight to the Fiji island is just 30 minutes by air from Fiji’s international airport in Nadi, compared to up to six hours by boat. Standard Departure Times (Yasawa & Mamanuca Group) – Flights depart Nadi as early as 7 am and depart every other hour. Our flight schedule is designed to minimize layover time in Nadi. The exact flight time varies from day to day, depending on passenger arrivals into Fiji. Our goal is to get you to your Island destination as quickly as possible – and we’ll schedule the flights accordingly.
Scenic Flights – Choose from the below experiences – Turtle Airways offers a limited number of Scenic Flight experiences, but keep checking back, as we plan to expand our offerings soon. ** Mystery Flights – Join us on one of our resort transfers to the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands for as low as AU$100.
