Cynthia Ambalal’s journey to becoming Fiji’s first female seaplane pilot is a testament to persistence, passion, and the courage to embrace the unexpected. Inspired by her pilot brother, Cynthia pursued aviation training during a challenging time, only to find few job opportunities upon graduation. Taking a role as a Guest Servicing Agent at Kokomo Private Island, she stayed close to flight, gradually transitioning into the cockpit by joining seaplane crews, asking questions, and chasing every opportunity to learn. A defining moment came with her first water landing—an experience that solidified her love for seaplanes and led her to earn her float rating.
