The Fijian Drua has moved one step closer to 100% renewable power with solar and batteries supplied and installed by Island Solar (Fiji).
Fijian Drua Moves Closer to 100% Renewable Energy with Island Solar
Island Solar (Fiji) Ltd is proud to announce the installation and sponsorship of a state-of-the-art 30kW solar system, complemented by a 30kWh battery storage system, to the Fijian Drua’s head office and training facility in Nadi. This initiative is a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy solutions and supporting local sports development.
Eddy May, co-founder of Island Solar (Fiji) says the new system ticks a lot of boxes not only for the Drua but also Fiji. “The new solar system will provide the Fijian Drua with reliable, clean energy, reducing their carbon footprint and operational costs. This installation aligns with Island Solar (Fiji) Ltd’s commitment to fostering renewable energy adoption across Fiji and contributing to the community’s overall well-being.” says May. “The latest technology in hybrid inverters and battery storage have been kindly sponsored by our product and technology partners, Sungrow Australia.”
“Island Solar (Fiji) is committed to bringing the knowledge of over 10,000 solar installations in Australia to Fiji. One of the most exciting things about this whole project is the installation was a Team effort between our Australian and Fijian electricians where we were able to share our knowledge of cutting-edge technology and installation techniques” May added.
Fijian Drua Chief Executive Officer Mark Evans says: “We are incredibly grateful to Island Solar (Fiji) Ltd for this generous sponsorship. The new solar system will not only power our facilities sustainably but also inspire our players and community to embrace renewable energy. This support is invaluable as we continue to grow and excel in our sport. This also means that our amazing athletes and Drua staff can continue to work and train through a power outage using the solar and batteries that can operate off the grid. We’re excited to work with Island Solar to amplify the benefits of moving to solar energy for homes and businesses.”
