This September, FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji proudly participated in IHG’s global Giving for Good initiative, a month dedicated to community engagement, charitable giving, and positive action. The initiative saw the collaboration of InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva in support of Fiji’s most vulnerable populations. Their efforts included meal donations, blood drives, and other community outreach programs aimed at addressing local needs.

Feeding the Vulnerable
Throughout the month, the hotels worked with local organizations such as Sacred Heart Kitchen (Suva), St. Vincent De Paul Nadi, Nawaka Women’s Methodist Nadi, Brethren Youths (Nadi), and Word Ministry & Youths (Nadi) to prepare and deliver more than 1,600 freshly cooked meals to the homeless in Suva and Nadi. This effort was focused on alleviating food insecurity and providing direct support to those facing hardship.
Raising Funds for Local Charities
In addition to meal donations, the hotels organized a weekly Cup of Kindness coffee sale every Friday throughout September. The initiative raised a total of FJ$11,000, which was donated to a number of local charitable organizations. These included the Loloma Home & Care Centre, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, Golden Age Home in Lautoka, and Sigatoka Special School.
Blood Drives to Support Healthcare Needs
As part of their commitment to community welfare, the hotels hosted blood drives in partnership with Fiji’s Ministry of Health & Medical Services. These drives helped to meet the critical demand for blood donations, directly contributing to healthcare efforts in the country.
World Heart Day Partnership
The Grand Pacific Hotel Suva marked World Heart Day on September 29th by partnering with Cure Kids Fiji. To raise awareness about heart health, the iconic hotel was illuminated in red from September 27th to 29th, symbolizing their ongoing support for the cause and encouraging public engagement with heart health initiatives.
A Commitment to Sustainable Impact
Lachlan Walker, Portfolio General Manager for IHG Hotels & Resorts, FNPF-Owned Hotels, commented on the initiative’s broader significance: “Our Giving for Good Month efforts reflect our continued commitment to making a positive impact on Fiji’s communities and environment. By aligning with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow goals, and with the support of our owners, Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), we aim to use the power of tourism to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Fiji.”
Giving for Good Month, part of IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow program, encourages IHG colleagues worldwide to participate in acts of kindness and community service. This initiative is one of many ways IHG Hotels in Fiji is supporting their local communities and fostering long-term social and environmental sustainability.
