Viani Bay Resort recently sponsored a spaying and neutering campaign conducted by Taveuni Animal Lovers in Viani Bay. This is the second campaign with Julie’s organisation, following one in June last year. In addition to providing boat transfers and meals, Viani Bay Resort, together with Dive Academy Fiji, covered the treatment costs for all animals, as well as boat rides for pet owners travelling from more remote parts of the bay.
Viani Bay Resort Animal Welfare Initiative
Led by Julie Seidman, the founder of Taveuni Animal Lovers, the volunteer veterinary team treats both owned and stray dogs and cats—not only through desexing procedures, but also with much-needed medication for worms, ticks, fleas, and other medical conditions. In addition to veterinary care, Julie educates local communities about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. With no resident veterinarian on Taveuni, her outreach work is a lifeline for animals across the island.
“I consider it a privilege to be of help to the animals of Fiji,” said Julie Seidman. “I enjoy giving back to the animals and the Fijian people.”, “We’re honoured to support this incredible initiative,” said Marina Walser, co-founder of Viani Bay Resort. “Healthy animals mean healthier communities, and Julie’s dedication is truly inspiring. Supporting local efforts like these is part of our wider commitment to sustainability, conservation, and community well-being here in Viani Bay.”
From marine conservation to local education and scholarships, Viani Bay Resort and Dive Academy Fiji proudly support a range of projects that benefit both people and the environment. Sponsoring these campaigns is one way we help care for the community we call home.
Julie and her team will return in August to treat the puppies who were still too small this time. To learn more or support their work, visit: https://www.taveunianimallovers.org/about-us
