Located off the island of Tavarua in Fiji, Cloudbreak is considered one of the most iconic and perfect waves in the world. This fast, left-hand barrel breaks over a shallow reef, with waves ranging from two to twenty feet. Its powerful and consistent nature will present a thrilling and dynamic challenge for the Final 5 surfers, offering a high-stakes stage to determine the 2025 World Champions. The CT first held a competition at Cloudbreak in 1999, where Mark Occhilupo triumphed and went on to claim the World Title that same year. Cloudbreak has long been regarded as a “dream tour” destination, and the WSL is excited to return in 2024 and to host the Finals there in 2025.
WSL Announces Cloudbreak, Fiji, as Venue for 2025 Finals
In 2024, Cloudbreak will serve as the final event of the regular season, determining the top five-ranked male and female surfers, known as the Final 5, who will then compete in the WSL Finals. This will be a thrilling preview of the 2025 World Title showdown. The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro Presented by Bonsoy will run from August 20–29, 2024.
“Cloudbreak is truly one of the best waves in the world, and hosting the Finals at such an iconic break is going to be incredible,” said Ryan Crosby, WSL CEO. “As our surfers continue to push the limits at every event, Cloudbreak will be the perfect venue to showcase their progression and crown our World Champions next year.”
Fiji’s presence on the CT is made possible by a three-year partnership with the Fijian Government, which will continue through 2026. Fiji’s position within the Tour schedule will be determined each season. The location for the 2026 WSL Finals will be announced next year.
“We are thrilled that the World Surf League has chosen Cloudbreak, Fiji, as the venue for the 2025 WSL Finals,” said Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji. “Our waves and warm hospitality are ready to welcome surf enthusiasts from around the world. This event not only boosts our global visibility but also supports local communities and inspires our surfers. Vinaka vakalevu, WSL, for recognizing Fiji as the ultimate destination for this event.”
