The resort is addressing the impact of single-use plastics by transitioning to more sustainable drinking water solutions, currently using biodegradable and recyclable bottles while preparing to implement in-room filtration systems. These initiatives align with the Group’s global sustainability targets, including a substantial reduction in plastic bottle usage since 2019, reinforcing the resort’s commitment to responsible luxury and environmental protection.

Recognising the environmental harm caused by single-use plastics, the resort has introduced 100 percent biodegradable and fully recyclable water bottles in guest rooms as an interim solution. This phased approach allows the property to significantly reduce its environmental impact while longer-term infrastructure improvements are put in place. The strategy balances sustainability goals with maintaining high standards of guest comfort and safety.

The resort also supports a circular waste approach by collecting used bottles and repurposing them into planting vessels for mangrove seedlings during guest and school engagement programmes. In addition, the bottles are transformed into creative educational displays at the resort’s Marine Education Centre, helping to raise environmental awareness and encourage stewardship among visitors and the local community.

As part of its next phase, the resort plans to introduce in-room water filtration systems, which will progressively eliminate the need for bottled water altogether. This step further reduces plastic use while continuing to meet guest expectations. These efforts contribute to the Group’s global sustainability achievements, including a reduction of nearly 400 tonnes of plastic bottle usage in 2025 compared to 2019, helping to reduce pollution and protect marine life.
